Scorching heat and humidity across parts of the U.S. come as the release of the State of the Climate report for 2024 came out last Thursday, highlighting a record-breaking prior year around the world.

5 p.m. Update: Temperatures at San Antonio International Airport rose to 84 degrees Thursday afternoon. That broke the daily record of 83 degrees, which was set on Feb. 6, 1925, exactly 100 years ago.
